Ian Taylor

Founder & Managing Director

Coming from a background in Instrument and Mechanical Engineering, followed by a successful career in Medical Equipment Sales, which had seen him working for industry leads such as Smiths Industries Medical Systems and Fresenius Kabi; Ian was inspired to change his career following the purchase of a personal computer back in 1998.

Supported by his engineering background, Ian soon got to grips with computer hardware and became particularly interested in networking and system management. He went on to train with industry specific companies such as Sophos, Microsoft and Ubiquiti.

Amazingly, the initial computer purchase went on to inspire not just an immersive hobby, leading to a change of career, it ultimately led to the launch of Mercury Maynard.

Watching the business grow and building an amazing team inspires him daily and he gets fulfilment in helping businesses to realise their IT potential. Supporting them to procure and operate IT and Comms systems that are bespoke to individual need. As inspired as he is by the work that Mercury Maynard does, Ian ultimately finds the most satisfaction when he can see his client's excitement at what they can do with their systems.

Ian’s favourite thing about Mercury Maynard:

My favourite thing is now having the ability to give something back to our local community, we have enjoyed working with the Colchester Anti Loo Roll Brigade not only with refurbishing donated laptops but also sponsoring their Festival, we have been able to support Colchester Pride and intend to do much more in our community.


Daniel Bruce

Technical Services Manager

Daniel has been with us since August 2018 joining us as an IT Support Technician and has progressed throughout the years, becoming CompTIA A+ certified, CompTIA Network+ Certified and obtaining a Distinction in not only his Level 3 Infrastructure Technician course but also in his Level 4 Network Engineer course. These Qualifications and the ambition shown by Daniel has also led to his promotion to Technical Services Manager.

Daniels favourite thing about Mercury Maynard:

My favourite thing about Mercury Maynard would have to be the team that I am working with and the customers we support. Relationships are a key part of our business and I feel that it is important to be a face of the company when I am out on site. Everyone in the team is easy to get on with and we can all pull together to get the work done when we need to do so. I like the sense of achievement when I resolve issues for customers and to receive feedback from our customers.


Robert Lowe

IT Support Technician

Robert joined the Mercury Maynard team at the height of the pandemic in 2021 and has proven to be an invaluable asset ever since. Since joining Robert has shown nothing but enthusiasm and ambition in his every endeavour and has enabled us to provide exceptional service to our clients. He has completed his Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship, obtaining a Distinction, as well as a CompTIA A+ Certification. On completion of his apprenticeship, we offered Robert a full-time role and he is now an IT Support Technician.

The atmosphere of Mercury Maynard is very accepting, for the time I have been working here I have always felt that I have had a notable part in decisions and discussions that take place.


Sally Barnard

Office Administrator

Sally joined Mercury Maynard in April 2022 and immediately made a big impact. Sally’s background as an Executive Assistant ensures that operationally we run more efficiently by providing top quality administration support.

Tom joined us in January 2024 as a dedicated IT Support Technician, bringing with him a solid foundation in IT and a passion for honing his skills in technical support. His academic journey has enriched him with a wealth of knowledge and industry practices. Tom's fascination with IT extends beyond the classroom; he takes joy in assisting others in navigating the intricacies of computing. His unwavering enthusiasm for learning and dedication to providing top-notch technical support make him an invaluable member of our team.
